

A week-long adventure with planned activities throughout central Illinois. Together with Sharon they would hold “Camp Schepke” every summer. Tom doted on his grandchildren, cheering them on at every game and event. Tom loved sharing how he was at Game 6 of the 2011 world series. Louis Cardinal fan, rarely missing an inning or a game. Tom was an avid Bradley Basketball and St. In fact, he once wrote a book, “My Wife the Shortstop.” Not as well known, Tom shared poems with his family for nearly every family occasion. Tom was well known in Bartonville for his many published poems in the Limestone Independent News. A welcoming hospitable nature you felt better after talking with Tom. He had an uncanny ability to make everyone he met feel at ease. Quick with a quip or perceptive insight, he was a great listener and sounding board for so many. Tom was known for his intellect and sharp wit. Tom also served on the Bartonville Monroe school board for 10 years.

He continued to work for the Village of Bartonville and had the responsibility of certifying all construction and building projects.

In 1971, he went to work for Rohn Manufacturing, where he held a professional engineering license in 48 states.

Tom began his professional career at the Highway Department, helping design portions of I-74 as part of the “new” Eisenhower Interstate highway system. Tom graduated from Limestone High School in 1959 and Bradley University in 1964 with a Civil Engineering degree. Tom began his schooling at Harkers Corner, a one-room schoolhouse where his “mom” Elva Floyd was the schoolteacher. Tom lovingly referred to them as “Mom and Pop.” They preceded him in death, as well as his in-laws, Vera and Dude Mohn, with whom he shared an exceptionally close relationship. Tom was raised by his maternal grandmother and grandfather, Elva and Rex Floyd.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon two children, Scott (Deb) Schepke of Peoria, IL, and Kim (Darin) Seibel of Dunlap, IL grandchildren, Justin Schepke of West Peoria, Connor Schepke of Gainesville, FL, and Tessa and Marissa Seibel of Dunlap, IL and sister, Shirlee Moke of Hanna City plus many nieces and nephews. Tom was born on January 6, 1942, in Peoria to Bill and Betty Schepke and grew up in Bellevue and Hanna City, Illinois.
